About Me

My photo
Hello, my name is Romeo, I'm about two years old and I am blind. Now before you sigh a great big "awe" for me, don't. I don't, my humans don't. They treat me like any other horse, well, maybe a little extra spoiling goes on. Now I do have a pasture mate, her name is Dolly, my humans love her very much too. You see, my humans are very special to me and Dolly, you might say they saved our lives. If you have the time I would like to tell you the story of me and Dolly.

This is me in Dolly's saddle, mom and dad wanted to see what I would do if they put a saddle on me.  Well, you can see my reaction from the pictures.   This saddle is too big for me, it fits Dolly, or will once she has her baby and her tummy isn't so big.  ")    Maddy is bringing a new saddle home from her dad's house this weekend.  I hope when she gets it home she will put it on me and let me take her up and down the driveway again, I really enjoyed that.

This is Maddy, she is mom and dad's human child.  She likes me very much and wanted to ride me.  Dad helped her up on my back and I was a very good  boy.  I walked up and down the driveway several times with her on my back.  I was very careful with her because she didn't have a saddle on me.  I was also very careful with her because I didn't want to hurt her, she talks real nice to me and I know she and I will be very good friends for a long time.

The next Friday dad stayed home a new vet came to our house and I had to have a "procedure" done.  I don't know who signed me up for that!!!!!!!!   As you can see I came through it fine, just a little sore in places that I didn't think should be sore!!!!!!!

Last Friday mom and dad came home early from work, they came out to our pasture and put us on our lead ropes.  Pretty soon a man pulled into our driveway, mom and dad said he was going to check me and Dolly out and make sure we were healthy.  He checked Dolly out first, she passed her test with flying colors and he said her baby was healthy too.  Then he came to check me over, he felt me all over and checked my teeth.  He said I was healthy too.  Dolly and I both got two shots and the doctor let mom and dad's human child give me my worm medicince.  She did a good job except it tasted horrible, I tried to wipe my mouth on dad's jacket to get rid of the taste!!!!!!  The doctor stood and talked to mom and dad about me being blind and what might have caused it.  He thinks I was blind from birth, I don't remember, everything has just always been dark for me.  He said there wasn't any reason why I couldn't learn stuff and even be ridden, how exciting.  Mom and dad were happy to hear this and said I would live out my life there with them regardless of whether I could see or not.  I liked that nice doctor, I hope he comes back to see us again sometime but leaves the nasty medicine at home!!!!!!!!       Thanks to Dr Scott Wallace and Dr. Vic Wallace.
This crew lives with us too, they are the funniest horses I've ever smelled.  Dolly says they stare alot.  Maybe they just can't get over how cute I am.

This is Dolly, isn't she beautiful.  I can't see her but I just know she is because she takes good care of me and mom is always calling her a "pretty girl".   Look at her big tummy, Dolly is going to have a baby soon.  I can't wait, I know it will be beautiful like her.
Ok, so here is the deal, Dolly or at the time she was being called Ruby and I were living with this family.  I don't understand it all but my dad there got really really sick.  They were gone alot and just couldn't take care of us anymore.  That was when we met our new mom and dad.  They came out to see us one day and I could just tell something was going to happen.  They started coming out every night and bringing us hay and apples and feed.  Dolly and I were in Heaven.  Then one afternoon this big truck and trailer pulled in.  I was a little scared but my new dad gave me an apple and patted me and said it was going to be alright.  Dolly and our new mom went out of the field ahead of us.  I knew if Dolly went it must be ok, she takes care of me.   So I went with my new dad to this trailer, it made a funny noise and I was afraid again but they were very patient with me and Dolly and helped me get into the trailer since I couldn't see.  They then tied us up so we would be safe and we were off to our new home and adventures.  The cool air felt so good!!!!!  When we got to our new home mom and dad came back in the trailer and got us and led us to our new pasture.  There was an endless supply of hay there and Dolly and I didn't lift our heads for three days straight!!!!!
